How we deliver shipping containers.
Containers up to 24 feet long, or two 10′ containers combined, can be delivery via tilt-bed truck. This is our smallest truck with the tightest turn radius from our delivery fleet. It is very suitable for mountain road, in-city deliveries, and deliveries with limited access.
The bed is tilted, the container is rolled off the back of the truck, and the truck backs up to wherever your desired location is. In order for us to deliver your container to your location safely, the truck requires a minimum of 60′ of straight line clearance. We will ask you when you place your order if you’d prefer the container loaded with the doors facing the cab or back of the truck to determine your final door location at your delivery site.
If there are any clearance concerns at the site or on the drive there, please let us know. We would be happy to take you out to show you the route prior to your delivery. These vehicles are used for delivery and pickup of rental storage containers that are 24 feet or less.
Tilt-Bed truck and trailer
The Tilt-Bed truck and trailer setup can deliver containers up to 45’ long with or a combination of (e.g.: 2 x 20’ containers, 4 x 10’ containers). The truck requires a minimum of 100-feet of unobstructed distance for a clear straight line delivery. First, the truck is positioned to back up to the designated location of container delivery. Then the trailer is tilted up at an angle to the point that the container rolls off the back of the trailer. When you place your order, we will request that you specify whether the container is going to be loaded with the doors at the cab or the rear of the truck. This will dictate where the doors will end up after the container has been delivered.
If there are any concerns about clearances at the site or during transport, please let us know. We will be pleased to do a preliminary review of the route to determine if the final delivery is possible. We deliver on the Tilt-Bed truck and trailer the 40’ standard, 40’ high cube, 45’ high cube, or the 2 x 20’ rental storage containers.
Flatbed truck
Our Flatbed truck can deliver containers up to 45’ long. Unlike the Tilt-Bed truck option, we cannot place containers on the ground with the Flatbed option. We require a forklift, crane or another type of offloading equipment to make the delivery. The Flatbed delivery truck option is generally selected if your delivery location is further than 200 miles from one of our yards.
If there is a clearance issue at the site or on the route to the site, please let us know. We would be glad to preview the route prior to delivery to ensure the delivery will be successful.
Side-lifter truck
The side-lifter truck utilizes 2 sliding cranes that are located at the front and rear of the trailer to either lower the container to the ground or lift the container to the trailer. The side-lifter truck containerizes from 20′ – 45′ or two 20 ft containers, provided all containers have 4 bottom ISO corner castings. The side-lifter truck is the largest truck in our delivery fleet.
The side-lifter truck’s primary advantage is that it has a load capacity of 42,000 lbs.. The side-lifter truck is also able to transfer boxes from other trailers or chassis at your site with a load capacity of 72,000 lbs.. Conditional upon a solid level surface on site, the side-lifter truck is able to stack containers two levels high. For this to occur, the driver will pull the truck up to where the container would be placed. Following that, the outrigger’s will be set, and the container will be unloaded or loaded on the driver’s side only.
When you schedule your order delivery, we will ask you if the container is to be loaded doors towards the cab, or rear of the truck. This will determine where the doors will face when the driver delivers the container.
Side-lifter truck delivery service is more expensive than the Tilt-Bed truck delivery service because a side-lifter truck doesn’t need a 100-feet straight line clearance to be able to complete the delivery. Also, a side-lifter truck is utilized if the container will have to be set above an elevated platform or above another container.
Please let us know any clearance issues at the all sites or along the route. We will be happy to preview the route before delivery to ensure we will be able to complete the delivery.
Crane truck
The crane truck can deliver containers (up to 24’ in length or a combination of containers with a max length of 24’) and is capable of pulling a trailer for delivery of multiple 20’ (or smaller) containers to the same site. The crane is mounted between the cab and deck of the truck for container loading and/or offloading. In ideal conditions, a crane is capable of placing a 20’ container at a distance of 25’ from the truck.
This truck is operated by a certified crane operator. The crane truck is a good delivery option when the container needs to be placed over a fence, elevated platform as a stack on another container, or where specific placement is required. As discussed, any delivery placement can only be evaluated on a case by case basis.
In order to prepare your site for delivery, your shipping container should be on firm, dry, level ground, i.e. pavement, gravel, or hard dirt.
Tilt-Bed and Flatbed truck deliveries are quoted at a flat rate that includes 30 minutes of unloading time. If the site is not ready to accept delivery, equipment not prepped, etc. and time is extended, our terms & conditions apply and will charged as an hourly rate in 15 minutes increments.
Side-lifter and crane trucks are usually billed at an hourly rate which begins when the driver leaves from our yard and ends when the driver returns to yard.
For all deliveries, our dispatcher will contact the site contact 24 hours in advance of the delivery to confirm a 2-hour window for delivery. The day of the delivery, the truck driver will call the site contact for a 30-minute time window.
Terms & conditions apply to all deliveries!!!
